WLCU WP Mr. Michel Doueihi ends his visit to Lebanon and leaves to Sydney – 6 Sep 2012

WLCU World President Mr. Michel Doueihi left Beirut this morning, heading to Sydney after a visit to Lebanon during which he met with senior Lebanese officials and chaired two WLCU conferences in Beirut.

At the airport, Doueihi said about the purpose of his visit to Lebanon: “I came to Lebanon to participate in the opening session of the World Council for Youth conference held in Hotel Le Royal – Dbayeh mid-July, since this conference is the first step undertaken by the WLCU in Lebanon, in preparation for the upcoming conference in 2013 in Beirut. We also participated in the elections of Miss Emigrants in Dhour Choueir, In addition to that we met senior Lebanese officials especially His Excellency President Michel Sleiman, who we respect and appreciate, and value his national positions for the interest of Lebanon”.

He added: “We support the President of the Republic in his ongoing pursuit to gather the Lebanese around the powerful nation project, and in applying the policy of keeping Lebanon away from the crises in the region to protect it from any of the repercussions.”

Concerning the goal of holding a youth congress in Lebanon, he said: “The goal of this gathering is to tighten the bonds of communication between the youth from Lebanese origin and to strengthen their ties with their home country, and to introduce them to the birthplace of their parents and grandparents, where the WLCU will receive about 200 young men and women who will come to Lebanon in 2013 from different Diaspora countries to participate in the youth congress and to make a tour to the various Lebanese regions, in addition to changing the hideous image of Lebanon painted in their minds as a war country and to assure them that Lebanon is a country of peace, love, hospitality, generosity and tourism. ”

And concerning the date of his return to Lebanon, he said: “It’s true I’m leaving today to Australia, but I will go from there to Argentina where I will be chairing the Latin American Continent meeting and the Annual World Congress for youth meeting. Then, I will go to New York, where I will also be chairing the WLCU World Council meeting which will be held in the middle of November 2012. I will also be following up the preparations for the Youth Conference to be held in 2013 in Beirut and the Miss Emigrants elections in various Diaspora countries to participate in the final election in Lebanon in 2013, in addition to cultural activities which will be done by the WLCU in different continents. And when I feel that there is a need to come to Lebanon, I will come back immediately. “
