The World Council for Youth

This is our World Youth Council for the 2018-2020 period!

A little about each one of our members:

Sergio de Los Ríos Feghali – President

EN: “A third-generation emigrant, I was born in Bogotá, Colombia where I studied civil engineering and worked as a structural engineer. I’ve lived in Bogotá, Vancouver, Toronto and Porto, and currently reside in Madrid , where I completed a Master’s in International Management and now work as consultant in the hotel and tourism sector. Fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese, and working really hard to improve my Arabic!”

ES: “Como emigrante de tercera generación, nací en Bogotá, Colombia donde estudié ingeniería civil y trabajé como ingeniero estructural. He vivido en Bogotá, Vancouver, Toronto y Porto, y actualmente vivo en Madrid donde estudié una maestría en gerencia internacional y trabajo como consultor en el sector hotelero. Hablo español, inglés y portugués, y estoy intentando mejorar mi árabe!”

 

Christina Salamy – Secretary General

EN: “Living in Canada’s Captial, the beautiful Ottawa, Ontario is where my family migrated to many years ago during the war in Lebanon. I completed my Bachelors of Science degree, Majored in Biology with a Minor in Psychology at the University of Ottawa and hoping to continue my studies in International Affairs. I am fluent in English and Arabic as well hoping to better my Spanish and French. I am humbled and excited to partake this duty. I believe all of us together have the ability to leave such a positive mark on Lebanon!”

ES: “Vivo en la capital de Canadá, la hermosa Ottawa. Ontario es hacia donde mi familia emigró hace muchos años durante la guerra en el Líbano. Completé mi Licenciatura en Ciencias, me especialicé en Biología con un Mención en Psicología en la Universidad de Ottawa y espero continuar mis estudios en International Affairs. Hablo inglés y árabe con fluidez y espero mejorar mi español y francés. Me siento honrada y emocionada de participar en este deber. ¡Creo que todos juntos tenemos la capacidad de dejar una marca tan positiva en Líbano!”

 

Jose Luis Kalil – Cultural Affairs Officer

EN: “My grandfather migrated from Baabda, Lebanon in the year 1946 with nothing but ambition and willingness to work hard. In Colombia he met his colombian wife, my grandmother. My love for Lebanon starts with this story! I studied business and for the last few years I have focused my career on sales & marketing, I now run my own marketing business. I’m currently the president of JUCOLI, the Colombian Lebanese youth which was founded in 2016 along with 10 other members. I speak english and spanish, and I’m currently learning arabic. I play polo, like bicycle trips and love outdoor activities. I believe in one thing: Inspiring people by doing, not just talking!”

ES: “Mi abuelo emigró de Baabda, Líbano en el año 1946 con nada más que la ambición y la voluntad de trabajar duro. En Colombia conoció a su esposa colombiana, mi abuela. ¡Mi amor por Líbano comienza con esta historia! Estudié administración de negocios y en los últimos años he enfocado mi carrera en ventas y marketing, ahora dirijo mi propio negocio de marketing. Actualmente soy el presidente de JUCOLI, la juventud colombo libanesa  que se fundó en 2016 junto con otros 10 miembros. Hablo inglés y español, y actualmente estoy aprendiendo árabe. Juego polo, me gustan los paseos en bicicleta y las actividades al aire libre. Creo en una cosa: ¡Inspirar a la gente haciendo y mostrando ejemplo, no solo hablando!”

 

Allie Ali – Social Welfare Officer

EN: “As a first generation Lebanese-Canadian i was fortunate to grow up amongst the Lebanese community of London Ontario, where Canada’s oldest mosque sits which was built with the help of the small but close knit community at the time. I later moved to Guelph to complete my Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science. After completing my degree in Guelph i relocated to Toronto where i Studied Naturopathic Medicine. I am an optimist at heart who loves to laugh and cook. I speak English, Arabic and am learning Spanish. I would genuinely like to know the people who make up our global community so please feel free to introduce yourself! I strongly believe one man (or woman) can change the world, can you imagine what we can all do together?”

ES: “Como canadiense de origen libanés de primera generación, tuve la suerte de crecer entre la comunidad libanesa de London, Ontario, donde se encuentra la mezquita más antigua de Canadá, que se construyó con la ayuda de una comunidad pequeña pero unida en ese momento. Luego me mudé a Guelph para completar mi Licenciatura de Honores en Ciencias Biológicas. Después de completar mi licenciatura en Guelph, me trasladé a Toronto, donde estudié Medicina Naturopática. Soy un optimista que adora reír y cocinar. Hablo inglés, árabe y estoy aprendiendo español. Realmente me gustaría conocer a las personas que constituyen nuestra comunidad global, así que siéntete libre de presentarte. Creo firmemente que un hombre (o mujer) puede cambiar el mundo, te imaginas lo que todos podemos hacer juntos?”

 

Ignacio Saba – Treasurer

EN: “I’m an accountant, a graduate from UNR (Universidad Nacional de Rosario). My grandparents on my father side were born in Lebanon, both from Qlhat, Khoura. I teach at a school as well as at the University and work as an Administrative Assistant within the Accounting Research Tasks at University (UNR). As well, I have my own Accounting Office.
I am the President of Juventud Soc. Libanesa de Rosario – Jucal Rosario and Pro-treasurer in Soc. Libanesa de Rosario. I speak Spanish and English.”

ES: “Soy Contador Publico, graduado en UNR (Universidad Nacional de Rosario). Mi abuelo y abuela, por parte de mi padre, nacieron en el Líbano, ambos de Qlhat, Khoura. Doy clases en escuelas y en la Universidad, tengo un trabajo administrativo y realizo tareas de Investigación en Contabilidad, ambas en UNR. Tengo mi propio Estudio Contable. También soy Presidente en la Juventud de la Soc. Libanesa de Rosario – JUCAL Rosario, y Pro-tesorero en la Soc. Libanesa de Rosario. Hablo español e inglés.”

 

Tatiana Azzi – Media Officer

EN: “I’m a third-generation Lebanese, born in Brazil and addicted to knafeh. I graduated from Journalism and Cinema at FACHA and specialized in audiovisual production and photography. I love traveling and one of my goals is to visit all the countries in the world which is going to be hard, since I go to Lebanon almost every summer. I speak Portuguese, English, Spanish, some French and my Arabic is terrible! My work with the Lebanese youth is with Julibra and AJBL.”

ES: “Soy nieta de libanés, nacida en Brasil y viciosa en knafeh. Me formé en Periodismo y Cine en la Facultad FACHA y soy especialista en producción audiovisual y fotografía. Me encanta viajar, y una de mis metas es conocer a todos los países del mundo (lo que va a ser difícil, ya que voy a Líbano casi todos los años). Hablo portugués, Inglés, Español, un poco de Francés y mi árabe es pésimo! Mis trabajos con la juventud libanesa son en Julibra y AJBL.”
