Subject: Meeting of the Regional Council of Europe in Dublin – Ireland on April 14th 07

 

Dear officers and Members

We are glad to announce to you that the “Irish Lebanese Cultural Foundation” joined the WLCU as a new chapter on January 2007.

In aim to meet the chapter’s members and the Lebanese Diaspora in Ireland, and in collaboration with Mr Guy Younes, the foundation’s President and his team, we have the pleasure to announce to you that the next meeting of the Regional Council of Europe will take place at Bewley’s Hotel -Leopardstown Dublin (Bewleyshotels.com) on Saturday 14th of April 2007. (in the executive conference room)

The World Secretary General Mr Georges Abi Raad (France),  the World Vice President for Europe Dr Carlos Keirouz (Belgium), and the President of the Regional Council of Europe Mr Saïd Yazbeck (United Kingdom) will be attending the event.

For the opening the Lord Mayor of Dublin will be present and so will the Foreign affairs Labour and FineGael members of Parliament. Other Irish Officials would be at the opening session. during which the WLCU will grant the Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Dermot Ahern the Platinum Emigrant Award for his role in securing the safe return of Irish Lebanese during the war on Lebanon and to rescue two young children and their grandmother from Tyre and bringing them to Ireland.

Program:

Saturday Morning : Arrival to Dublin

2:00 pm : opening ceremony including the Welcome word from the Hosting Chapter.

Followed by the closed meeting of the Regional Council of Europe :                                          

– Making knowledge with The Chapter’s President and officers.

– Word of the President of the Regional Council of Europe.

– Word of the World President, by Dr Kairouz the World Vice-President.

– Word of the Secretary General.

– Report of the Regional Secretary General for Europe.

– Then the reports of the attendants (Chapters Presidents and Committees).

– Discussions.

– Preparations for the participations to the next World Congress on May 25th in Brazil.

5:00 pm : Conclusion.              

The I.L.C.F. will hold a Community Dinner at a Lebanese Restaurant in Celbridge airfield, on Saturday 14th evening, from 6 pm till late. Members of the Irish Lebanese Cultural Foundation and their families along with dignitaries from the Irish Parliament and Friends will be attending.

Sunday Morning:

We will visit the Garden of Remembrance to lay wreaths for the 47 Irish Soldiers who died in Lebanon during 23 years of Peace Keeping attended by the Irish Veteran Associations, followed by Mass for Peace held by the Archbishop of Dublin at the pro Cathedral attended by Officials.

Final arrangements shall be confirmed at a later stage.

RTE,TV3 and media will be advised of the event and may seek radio of tv interviews with the participants.

Sunday afternoon: leaving.

Attention :

For non European passports detainees, a visa is required to visit Ireland (because Ireland is a non Schengen).

Standard rate per room (can take three adults in one room) is 89 Euros.
