WLCU Argentinean Chapter Group travel to Lebanon – 31 Oct 2012

Between past September 16th  and October 1st of 2012, a group of Lebanese Argentinean members of the WLCU Argentinean Chapter visited Lebanon.

This group of 65 peoples whom came from several  cities of Argentina as Buenos Aires, Gálvez, Guaymallén, La Plata, Luján de Cuyo, Maipú, Melincué, Mendoza, Río Cuarto, Rosario y San Juan, and was in charge of Mr. Hernan Echen and Mr. Nestor Hage, as President and Treasurer of WLCU´s Argentinean Chapter, together with several directors of  WLCU chapters inside Argentine.

During these 14 days on Lebanon, group traveled from south to north and from east to west, reaching his long history and culture.

 

 

 

More, all people in the Group went on their original village, and much of them met for first time some relatives and see grandparent houses, living such emotional moments, which will remain live memories of this so especial trip.

 

 

The Group had a very special meeting in Baabda Palace, where it was received by the Lebanon President, Mr. Michel Sleiman, on September 27th at 11:30 a.m.. In his speech, His Excellence welcomed the group and greeted him for to be in touch with their roots, and encourage them to obtain the citizenship to make alive the relationship with Lebanon across the time.

 

 

 

 

 

 

On October 1st, a delegation of 10 Argentinean people together with the WLCU Secretary General, Mr. Toni Kaddissi, held a meeting with the Information Minister, Mr. Walid Daouk, at her offices in Hamra, Beirut.

After this meeting, the group was kindly received by ANN Director, Ms. Laure Sleiman Saab.

On both meeting speeches were about different ways to strengthen communication and news diffusion between Lebanon and Argentinean.

 

 

 

The group also was received by H.E. Lebanon Ambassador in Argentine, Mr. Hicham Hamdan, in his residence in Chouf, several hours before to travel to Argentine to arrange details of Mr. President visit to several Latin-American countries.

All these events were published in many communications media (TV, radio, news papers) on Lebanon, giving to this group a great importance.

Regarding the success of this trip, WLCU Argentinean Chapter has decided to schedule a similar trip yearly to promote that Argentinean Lebanese meet their roots.
