Happily, the Lebanese community of Peru is quite strong and deeply rooted to its identity. They also have a large number of youths belonging mainly to the cities of Lima and Chiclayo.

After the celebration of the Independence Day, organized by the “Lebanese Union of Peru” with the special participation of the Nakhoul and Abi-Fadel families, the young people had the opportunity to know each other better and so, on November 23, they held their first meeting led by the World Youth President, Nissrin Esber.

At that meeting they agreed to call the group “ULIJOP”, which its acronym in Spanish means “Lebanese Union of Peruvian Youth” (Unión Libanesa de Jóvenes Peruanos). Luis Manzur took a leading role, and also Fatima Nazzal Siuffe, Fahed Werdan, Samira and Valeria Yapur, Yousef Abi-Fadel, Coco Hende Scander, Margorie Scander, among others.

The group is already working actively with the WLCU Youth in the #LEBolution campaign and we hope to have them all next year for the 2015 World Meeting for Youth in Lebanon.
