Historical Brief<\/h2>\n

The Lebanese have gathered in various countries of the diaspora since the beginning of their migration and founded associations and clubs. Then, unification movements arose in Central America, Mexico, and Argentina to unite the largest number of these institutions around goals and interests of a national Lebanese character, the most important of which was the Interamerican Federation of Lebanese Entities <\/b>(FIEL), established in Havana – Cuba on 01\/31\/1959 On the initiative of Simon Boustani, Dr. Natalio Chidiac, and Dr. Alfredo Abu Zeid. They held their first conference in January 1960 in Mexico City.<\/p>\n

In Lebanon<\/b>, several attempts were made to bring together expatriates and strengthen their relations on solid and organized foundations. The idea of establishing the Lebanese Union in the world<\/b> received a comprehensive response among the Lebanese in the homeland and in the diaspora, and this response was demonstrated by unanimous support within the Council of Ministers who decided in its session held on August 29, <\/b>1959<\/b> to hold a conference for Lebanese expatriates.<\/p>\n

On September 15<\/b>th<\/b> , 1960<\/b>, the conference was held in the halls of UNESCO in Beirut, attended by expatriates who came to Lebanon from all over the world. It was opened by His Excellency President Fouad Chehab and concluded by Prime Minister Saeb Salam. After successive sessions, the conference decided to establish the Lebanese Union in the world

On August 20, 1964<\/b>, the Second World Conference was held in Beirut in the presence of delegates from all diaspora countries and representatives from all branches of the Union in the world.
\nAfter several meetings held by the working committees in the UNESCO Palace, the delegates elected on August 22, 1964, the first international council of the Union, in which the Union\u2019s affairs were entrusted in accordance with the new statute, where the first article stipulated that the Union was non-governmental, non-political and non-sectarian<\/b>.
\nLater on, the name was changed to \u201cThe World Lebanese Cultural Union<\/b>,\u201d and the Union was registered in Lebanon on 12\/13\/1973 <\/b>under the No. 363; <\/b>on 12\/02\/2007 a Government decree recognized the WLCU as the sole<\/b> representative of the Lebanese Diaspora<\/b>.<\/p>\n

In brief, the project of the World Lebanese Cultural Union,<\/b> was born in Latin America in 1959, and realized in Lebanon in 1960.\"\"<\/b><\/p>\n
