WLCU World Secretary General, Mr. Roger Hani, and WLCU Youth Council President, Mr. Sergio de los R\u00edos Feghali, were present in Lebanon during the month of October visiting various government officials, universities and news agencies.<\/p>\n

The WLCU officials\u2019 trip began in the Tripoli Serail to thank Governor of North Lebanon, Mr. Ramzi Nohra, for his support towards this past summer\u2019s LEBolution visit to Tripoli. Governor Nohra greatly assisted with security and logistics for the LEBolution group to tour around the city and visit the Sultan Abdul Hamid clocktower, the old souks and the Citadel Raymond Saint-Gilles.<\/p>\n

The officials then visited the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Tripoli and North Lebanon to meet with its President, Mr. Toufic Dabbousy, and thanked him for his continuous support to the WLCU Youth and the special reception received during LEBolution 2019. Mr. Dabbousy then presented a project to enhance the role of Tripoli as a logistics platform which includes the completion of the project of the Special Economic Zone, the project of developing the Tripoli port, and the rehabilitation and operation of the Rene Moawad Airport.<\/p>\n

Mr. Hani and Mr. Feghali were also received in the offices of National News Agency Director, Mrs. Laure Sleiman Saab, and Minister of Culture, Dr. Mohammad Daoud Daoud, and presented them with recognitions for their constant cooperation in helping the Lebanese abroad to identify with our cultural heritage. At the Minister Daoud\u2019s office, Mr. Hani highlighted the importance of activating cooperation between the Ministry and the WLCU in the cultural sector at all levels, especially as WLCU works with the Lebanese youth all around the world to communicate with their Lebanese origins.<\/p>\n

A visit to the Lebanese American University Byblos campus was also in order, as the WLCU formalized a collaboration with LAU by signing a Memorandum of Understanding alongside LAU President, Dr. Joseph Jabbra, and Director of International Services, Mrs. Dina Abdul Rahman. The MOU is an opportunity for both institutions to discuss issues of common interest and endeavour to coordinate work programs and support mutual efforts, and focuses primarily on programs and workshops related to the Arabic language and the Lebanese dialect, and highlighting the importance of language in fostering ties between the Lebanese in Lebanon and the Lebanese abroad.<\/p>\n

LAU invited the WLCU officials to attend the event \u201cThe Arabic Language: Roots, forms and globalization\u201d to commemorate the World Arabic Language Day at CISH (International Centre for Human Sciences), under the auspices of UNESCO. The event was held in collaboration between CISH-Byblos, the Ministry of Culture and LAU-SINARC, and held panels on the evolution of the Arabic language and the role of the Arabic language in globalization, as well as a workshop on calligraphy and arabesque.<\/p>\n

El Secretario General Mundial de la ULCM, el Sr. Roger Hani, y el Presidente del Consejo Mundial de Juventud de la ULCM, el Sr. Sergio de los R\u00edos Feghali, estuvieron presentes en el L\u00edbano durante el mes de octubre visitando a varios funcionarios gubernamentales, universidades y agencias de noticias.<\/p>\n

El viaje de los oficiales de la ULCM comenz\u00f3 en Tripoli Serail para agradecer al Gobernador del Norte del L\u00edbano, Sr. Ramzi Nohra, por su apoyo al proyecto de la juventud \u201cLEBolution\u201d de este verano pasado, especialmente en su visita a Tr\u00edpoli. El gobernador Nohra brind\u00f3 ayuda en t\u00e9rminos de seguridad y log\u00edstica para que el grupo LEBolution recorriera la ciudad y visitara la torre del reloj del Sult\u00e1n Abdul Hamid, los antiguos mercados y la Ciudadela Raymond Saint-Gilles.<\/p>\n

Luego, los oficiales visitaron la C\u00e1mara de Comercio, Industria y Agricultura de Tr\u00edpoli y el Norte del L\u00edbano para reunirse con su presidente, el Sr. Toufic Dabbousy, y le agradecieron su continuo apoyo a la Juventud ULCM y la recepci\u00f3n especial recibida durante LEBolution 2019. El Sr. Dabbousy luego present\u00f3 un proyecto para fortalecer el rol de Tr\u00edpoli como plataforma log\u00edstica que incluye la finalizaci\u00f3n del proyecto de la Zona Econ\u00f3mica Especial, el proyecto de desarrollo del puerto de Tr\u00edpoli y la rehabilitaci\u00f3n y operaci\u00f3n del aeropuerto de Ren\u00e9 Moawad.<\/p>\n

El Sr. Hani y el Sr. Feghali tambi\u00e9n fueron recibidos en las oficinas de la Directora de la Agencia Nacional de Noticias, la Sra. Laure Sleiman Saab, y el Ministro de Cultura, el Dr. Mohammad Daoud Daoud, y les presentaron reconocimientos por su constante cooperaci\u00f3n para ayudar a los libaneses en el extranjero a identificarse con su patrimonio cultural. En la oficina del Ministro Daoud, el Sr. Hani destac\u00f3 la importancia de impulsar la cooperaci\u00f3n entre el Ministerio y la ULCM en el sector cultural a todos los niveles, teniendo en cuenta el trabajo de la ULCM con los j\u00f3venes libaneses de todo el mundo para comunicarse con sus or\u00edgenes.<\/p>\n

En una visita al campus de Byblos de la Lebanese American University, la ULCM y el Consejo Mudial de Jovenes formalizaron una colaboraci\u00f3n con LAU mediante la firma de un memorando de entendimiento junto con el presidente de LAU, el Dr. Joseph Jabbra, y la directora de servicios internacionales, la Sra. Dina Abdul Rahman. El memorando es una oportunidad para que ambas instituciones discutan temas de inter\u00e9s com\u00fan, cooperando para coordinar programas de trabajo y apoyar esfuerzos mutuos. El acuerdo se enfoca principalmente en la elaboraci\u00f3n de programas y talleres relacionados con el idioma \u00e1rabe y el dialecto liban\u00e9s, y destacar la importancia del idioma para fomentar lazos entre los libaneses en el L\u00edbano y los libaneses en el extranjero.<\/p>\n

LAU invit\u00f3 a los oficiales de la WLCU a asistir al evento “La lengua \u00e1rabe: ra\u00edces, formas y globalizaci\u00f3n” para conmemorar el D\u00eda Mundial de la Lengua \u00c1rabe en CISH (Centro Internacional de Ciencias Humanas), bajo los auspicios de la UNESCO. El evento, en el cual se desarrollaron p\u00e1neles sobre la evoluci\u00f3n del idioma \u00e1rabe y el papel del idioma \u00e1rabe en la globalizaci\u00f3n, as\u00ed como un taller sobre caligraf\u00eda y arabesco, se llev\u00f3 a cabo en colaboraci\u00f3n entre CISH-Byblos, el Ministerio de Cultura y LAU-SINARC.<\/p>\n
