the vacuum in the presidency has led to increasing constitutional chaos, the financial and economic crisis has pushed eighty percent of our people below the poverty line, regional powers tamper with our security and sovereignty, an enemy lurks, wreaking havoc and destruction, and foreign influence leads us into regional agendas that do not serve our interests as a people or a nation. Instead of tackling corruption and fighting corrupt officials, upholding justice under a fair judiciary, and maintaining the rule of law, we find ourselves burdened by crises that have engulfed our nation, amidst conflicts and fears of open war, with the nation weighed down by displaced persons and refugees, and our youth once again, sadly, standing on the verge of embarking on a new wave of emigration, lining up at embassies.<\/p>\n Isn’t it heartbreaking to see the statue of the Emigrant overlooking the destroyed port of the capital? Indeed, this statue has become a witness to the comprehensive collapse, yet at the same time, it has become a symbol of a promise made by emigrants themselves, despite having their deposits stolen like their resident counterparts, that they remain the global line of defense for Lebanon, the hope for reinvestment in it, and the national conscience represented by your organization, the World Lebanese Cultural Union in the Diaspora, an active presence in host countries and in the United Nations, with a rich history that has never succumbed to coercion or intimidation.<\/p>\n I would like to express my pride and gratitude to all of you, dear emigrants, for every effort you make to strengthen your ties with Lebanon, and for your ongoing contributions to the development of our motherland.
