WP Eid Chedrawi & Delegation congratulate Patriarch Rahi in the occasion of Christmas & Holidays – 6 January 2012

WLCU World President Eid Chedrawi and the Chairman of Lebanon Office Toni Kaddissi assisted in the Epiphany Mass headed by the Maronite Patriarch Mar Beshara Boutros Rahi held on Friday 6th of January 2012 at Bkerky, assisted by the Bishops Camille Zidane, Hanna Alwan and Shukrallah Harb, secretary of the Patriarch Father Nabih El Teress, Monsignor Joseph El Boueiry, Father Khalil Arab, in the presence of several official figures, and popular delegations from various Lebanese regions.

After the mass, Mr. Eid & Mr. Toni congratulated the Patriarch on the occasion of Christmas and the holidays and transfer to him the greetings of the WLCU officers and members all over the world, and praised “the role of the Patriarch and the Council of Maronite Bishops in calling for the need to restore the Lebanese nationality for the Lebanese descendants and the involvement of the Lebanese in the Diaspora in the parliamentary elections.”

Chedrawi informed the Patriarch about the preparations for the WLCU 17th World Congress in Mexico City in March, where there will be an election of the new World Council Committee and discussions about important matters related to the Diaspora and Lebanon, calling to speed up the adoption of the law on acquiring the Lebanese nationality in the Parliament house, and begin to work on a practical mechanism which enables the Lebanese descendants to take advantage of this law.

He also presented the activities done by the WLCU in good coordination and cooperation with some of the ministries, official and civil institutions in Lebanon and the world for the benefit of Lebanon and the Diaspora, hoping that the patriarch Rahi seeks at the responsible for the future diplomatic formations, “to appoint officials in the Department of expatriates in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to deal impartially with the WLCU and not to obstruct its activities in the Diaspora Countries.
