World Lebanese Cultural Union
Information Minister Walid Daouk went over means to bolster Lebanese-Argentinean ties during his meeting with a delegation of Argentinean of Lebanese origin.
The delegation visited Daouk on Monday 1st of October 2012 within the frame of the tour the World Lebanese Cultural Union was organizing to meet with Lebanese officials.
Daouk said that “this delegation represents the fourth generation from the emigrants who are returning to Lebanon to discover it through tourism and visiting their villages.
He also called them to “register their names before the embassies and consulates in Argentina for the upcoming parliamentary elections and to protect their properties”.
He also announced that “they have projects which will be implemented in collaboration with the WLCU, including the twinning of some Lebanese cities with Argentinean cities.”
The President of the WLCU National Council in Argentina Hernán Echen spoke on behalf of the delegation, expressing their happiness for being in the “beautiful country Lebanon,” adding that they met with President Michel Sleiman during their visit, and they invited Minister Daouk to visit Argentina as soon as possible
The WSG Toni Kaddissi said, “The WLCU in Argentina organized the trip of the Argentineans of Lebanese Origin to Lebanon, and that the delegation visited President Michel Sleiman and presented to him a shield on behalf of the WLCU and they also wanted to meet with Minister Daouk today”.
He noted that they discussed with minister Daouk several projects and President Sleiman will visit Argentina in the coming days.
At the end of the visit, the delegation presented to Minister Daouk the map of Argentina as a symbolic gift.
Afterwards, the delegation visited the National News Agency Director, Laure Sleiman Saab, calling for opening a bureau for the Agency in Argentina.
NNA Director presented to the delegation a copy of the Agency’s book entitled “Memory of Lebanon in Pictures” which contains the history of Lebanon in pictures.
