WLCU Latin American & Caribbean Council meetings in Chile from 19 till 21 September 2014

The WLCU Latin American & Caribbean Council meetings for youth and adults were held for three days in Santiago, Chile:

It was created the “Chilean National Council” for the WLCU and the youth campaign #LEBolution was officially launched

Between 19 and 21 September in the city of Santiago, Chile, were held in parallel sessions of the World Lebanese Cultural Union: the Latin American and Caribbean Council one, and the Youth Council one.

Both meetings were attended by the President of the WLCU, Mr. Alejandro Kuri, the Secretary General, Mr. Toni Kaddissi, as well as the President of the Latin American Council, Mr. Juan Jose Nassar. Regarding the youth, they had the presence of Nissrin Esber and Said Chaya, Chairperson and Secretary General of the WLCU-Y, respectively. The overall turnout was approximately of 80 congressional between adults and youth coming from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico and Uruguay.

During the three-day conference, it was officially launched the “Chilean National Council” chapter for the WLCU. Its Board will be constituted ​​the next days, following the decisions taken by the Lebanese Club of Santiago, which President is Mr. Jorge Chocair. The constitution of this new chapter is extremely important, as it responds to one of the main objectives of the current WLCU representatives, who are seeking to expand the scope of the institution promoting their growth and influence all over the world.

Moreover, the campaign of the WLCU – Youth, #LEBolution (a concept that was devised in August in Lebanon), was officially launched in the city of Santiago, after sitting the bases of the activities that will compose it.

The WLCU-Y will work for a year around the world in activities of social, cultural and communicational character, culminating its activities next July 2015 in Lebanon, during the World Youth Meeting that aims to bring together about 300 young people from all continents.

One of the main tasks that these young people will work for is a care program for the environment to be launched in different countries of Latin America on 14 November. This chain activity corresponds to the cleaning of a public space, and intends to be replicated in Lebanon during the next World Youth Meeting, thus helping to preserve the cleanliness in the Motherland.
