The Lebanese community of Santiago gathered together on the morning of Sunday 8 March 2015 at Circulo Libanes to celebrate the International Day of the Lebanese Emigrant. JOL offered a breakfast consisted of delightful Lebanese food that was enjoyed with enthusiasm by the guests.
Sebastian Sauma, president of JOL, took the chance to release the newest cultural project of the team; “La huella del Emigrante”, (the footstep of the emigrant) an initiative that pursuits the preservation of the Lebanese roots by honoring the family´s stories of emigration. The idea is to officially name a little square located in Vitacura neighborhood called Plaza Libano, which doesn´t count with a proper sign. To achieve this goal, JOL is launching a campaign for collecting money and donation. The project will come to an end by 2016 when the sculpture of the Emigrant will be installed.
