The WLCU DPI representatives at the United Nations, Mrs. Antoinette Atie and Miss Rima Cario attended the “International Day for the Eradication of Poverty” held on 16 October 2015 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

The conference titled: “Building a sustainable future: Coming together to end poverty and discrimination”, included a message on behalf of Mr. Ban Ki-moon, United Nations Secretary-General, a collective message presented by Ms. Zina Grimes and Mr. Henri Yamasheta Wilson, a video message from Ms. Eden Mañalac – Manila, Philippines, a message from the Hyde Leadership Charter School, New York, a video message from Ms. Karina Onbrados Solorzano – Escuintla, Guatemala, a collective message from children presented by Jazmine Holloway and Lawrence Rikie, a video message from Ms. Betza Orozco – Guatemala City, Guatemala, a message from H.E. Mr. François Delattre, Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations, a message from H.E. Mr. Simplice Honoré Guibila, Ambassador, Chargé d’Affaires, Permanent Mission of Burkina Faso to the United Nations, a musical performance by Bárbara Martínez, singer and Cristian Pui, guitarist and a message from Mr. Donald Lee, International committee for October 17.
