أهلوكَ لمّا رأَوا في الأرضِ جَلجَلةً قـالوا: الجَـوادُ كـبا، فانشـقَّـتِ القِمَمُ

وهَوَتْ عُيونُ الشمسِ من حُزنِها جَمراً يَكـوي القـلوبَ أسـىً كالنارِ تَـلتَـهِمُ

يا شِلحَ أرزٍ هوى من مَحتِدٍ عَطِرٍ ضَـمَّـتـهُ أجـنِحـةٌ بيـضـاءُ تزدحِمُ

يا طيبَ قلبِكَ، أين الطيبُ بعدَكُمُ؟! يا دِفءَ روحِكَ، أين الجودُ والكَرمُ؟!

يا ضَوعَ نفسِكَ، ضَوعُ الوردِ مَورِدُها يا غَمرَ صَدرِكَ، أنت العزمُ والهِمَمُ

يا شيخ عيد، يا فقيدَ الجامعة ولبنان

رحلتَ، ولمّا نزلْ بحاجةِ إليك، يا طيِّبَ المعشر، وجميلَ الخُلُق!

كثيرونَ هُمُ الذين سيفتقدونكَ، وعلى رأسهم عائلتُك الصغيرة التي ضمَّيتَ تحتَ جناحيك، أنت والسيدة هيفا، صغارها وكبارها، وعائلتكَ الكبيرة في لبنانَ والمهجر.

ستفتقدكَ طائفتك، وأدراج بكركي، وأبواب الديمان، وسيفتقدك زملاؤك في المؤسسة المارونية للإغتراب.

وستفتقدك الجامعة اللبنانية الثقافية في العالم، وقد كنت رئيسها العالمي، واستمرَّيتَ، حتى الرمقِ الأخير، رئيسها الروحي، وحاملَ همومَها، وهمومَ الإغتراب، أنتَ المغترب النموذجي، الذي تتفتَّح روحُهُ عن نجاحاتٍ لا تنتهي، فكنتَ مُخلصاً للبنان، الوطن الذي أحببت، تحملُ قضاياه، وتدافع، بكلِّ جوارحك عنه، سيِّداً، حُرّاً، مستقلاً، وتقدِّمُ التضحيات في سبيلِهِ، وتفتح لأبنائهِ صدرَكَ، وبيتَكَ، والمطارح..

وشأنك شأن المغتربينَ المخلصين، جعلتَ لغانا وشعبِها حيِّزاً مُهمّاً في حياتك، وما تمثال الصداقةِ الذي زرعتَ في ربوعها إلآ دليلٌ على محبتك لبلدكَ الثاني كمحبتكَ لوطنكَ الأم.

يا شيخ عيد،

تحيَّةً لك، من رفاقكَ ومُحبّيك، في الوطنِ والإغتراب، تحيّةً لكَ من مآثِرِكَ التي ستبقى محفورةً في القلوب، تحيّةً لكَ من عطاءاتِكَ الخالدة، تحيَّةً لك من الوجدان

وأنتَ، إذ تعود إلى “الحدث”، كي يحضُنكَ الترابُ المقدس، على قِمَمِ الوادي المُقدَّس، سوفَ تنمو كأرزةٍ جديدةٍ تنضمُّ لأرزِ الرب، تمتدُّ جُذورُها عميقةً في ترابِ لبنان، وترفعُ أغصانها مُسبِّحةً الباري تعالى، ونافحةً على سفوحِ المكمل طيباً ما بعده طيب.

غانا – شكيب رمال: يلفني الحزن, يحيط بي ويطّوقني وانا ارثي رجلآ كبيرالمقام,عيوننا تتلهف لإستشفاف تلاميح وجهه المتماهي الى العلياء.الاوهو. المرحوم الشيخ عيد الشدراوي ( لابا ).لقد لفني الحزن وانا افتش عن كلمات تفي هذا الإنسان حقه في رثائه . كلمات حق يجب ان تقال في وقت يشدنا الحنين الى مامضى من سنوات كنا نستشف النور ونستطب الدفىء في حنايانا بوجوده .اليوم، رأيت النور يرشح زيته وكأنه الندى على جبين من كان القدوة .خسارتك ياعيد لا تعوّض,الموت لك قاس,لارحمة فيه,لقد ابعد جسدك عنا.لكن ملامح وجهك لن تغيب، وذكراك لن يموت من بيننا .ايها المؤمن، الموت حق. حتى ولوكنت لم تكفراوتبغظ احد يومآ,فحياتك وذكراك سيبقيان في الخلود .وعدآ، سنردد اسمك بالمهابة والإحترام .فالأعمارتمضي وتبقى الأثار,حيث سيرحل كلانا واحد تلوالآخرعن هذه الدنيا الزائلة,ولم يبق بعدنا إلا الأثرفي ما فعلناه وتعاطفنا مع الناس .وانت يا عيد، كنت بيننا كتلة من المحبة والعطاء,لا تخف, لن ننساك ابدآ, لن ينساك من احبك ومن لم يحبك لآنك لم تقصّريومآ في واجب, فالقول فيك قاصرعلى الوفاء لك.عشت طودآ شامخآ في الإيمان والعطاء, كنت سموحآ وكلك مشاعر واحاسيس,لقد رحلت باكرآ,ولكنك حملت معك فرحآ داخليآ, سماويآ مرتبطأ بمحبة الناس الذين كنت تفكرفي همومهم وقضاياهم ان كان في غانا او لبنان اوفي بلاد الإنتشار التي تبوأت فيها اعلى المناصب,ولم يكن هذا بكثيرعليك, لأننا نؤمن بأنك كنت صادقآ ومحبآ للبشر. لقد عاملك البعض بسوء, والبعض بنكران الجميل,ومع ذلك لم تتناولهم بكلمة سوء,تحملت الكبيروالصغير والغني والفقير.رحيلك خسارة كبرى,انها مشيئة الخالق التي لامرد لها. قبلنا رحيلك لأن الله اختارك ان تكون في جنته . رحلت ورحلت قلوبنا معك,فإلى جنة الخلد,والى الذكرى التي لن ننساها حتى تغمض اعيننا الى القبر. لنا فيك عزاء في ما ابليت من البلاء الحسن, كفاك التضحية ..نم حيث انت في جنان الخلد لقد زّودت احلامك مجد لبنان. بإسمي وبإسم الأخوة في الجامعة اللبنانية الثقافية في العالم,نتقدم من العائلة الكريمة بأحرالتعازي والمواسات راجين من الله العلي القديران يتغمده بواسع رحمته ورضوانه.

” People of the Cedars” – South Africa – Ken Hanna : It is with a deep sense of sorrow, that we note the passing away of our dear brother Eid Chedrawi. We , the Lebanese in South Africa, remember Eid with deep love and affection. His contribution to Lebanon is legend. His memory will live on in the Holy Cedars of Lebanon. That is where his funeral takes place. Please convey our deepest sympathy to Haifa and all the family. Today we will be offering our Mass in Krugersdorp for the repose of his soul.

I can confirm that mother Lebanon specifically and the WLCU in general has lost ICONE : Well, if the nature has decided to do so, we shall accept but certain humans can leave this world physically but not in mind. With this email, I’d like to express my personal condolence on his passing, to the WLCU his wife Haifa and children.

UN/DPI-ECOSOC Representative (2012-2015) – NJ/NY Chapter (2005 – 2007) – Mahassen Mara Hanna: With deep regrets I learnt the passing of former World WLCU President, Mr. Eid Chedrawi, one of the best. In 2006, during our conveying at the World national meeting in Victoria, Canada, we got to meet him and work with him closer. I was especially touched by his humbleness, kindness and sincerity toward uniting the Lebanese Diaspora and working for a better WLCU -inside out. Furthermore, Mr. Eid Chedrawi is remembered as a fine, generous, and well respected man in his country Lebanon and throughout the diaspora according to one of my representative who attended a gathering at his home in Hadath-Bechary, hosting members of the WLCU, some politicians, and friends over a splendid luncheon. It was worth noting that Mr. Chedrawi was able to bring leaders from the Free National Movement and Lebanese Forces to sit together and discuss serious matters over a luncheon -something that was rare during those days. God bless his soul and may rest in peace.He was good for his family, his community, and his country. He will definitely be missed.With deep sympathy, I send my condolences to his wife and family.
