Gebran Tueni award in Canada (Eng) – 19 February 2007

208 peoples attended the event organized by LEBANESE CANADIAN SOCIETY -WLCU Vancouver chapter, sponsored by WLCUBC Council, at the  elegant Surrey golf Club, President  Jamale Zarifeh opened the ceremony (the third annual scholarship night )and welcomed all people and explained the academic process that we follow to choose the winner, John Badr (WLCU BCC president ) read the TEUINI FAMILY lettre, and thanks them because they accepted our offer to nominate a sholarship award in his name … i congratulated the student in your name and the WP name and declared that this award (decided at the world council meeting in Victoria , and first adopted in British Columbia )will be offered every year to commemorate Gibran Tueni (1500$) to a bright student ,and cited this example : and old man was planting a date tree(balha) a little boy stopped by and asked the old man ,are you going to live to eat from this tree, the old man answered : my son they planted and we ate , we plant and you will eat (Zaraou fa akalna, wa nazraa fa yaakouloun) and i finished hoping that  one day these student will take our place and honor a new generation of lebanese descent and give a scholarship in the name of Gibran Tueni so his legacy will live for ever.
