LEBolution

What is LEBolution?

Born from an idea during a 2013 WLCU Youth conference in Lebanon and first materialized in the summer of 2015, LEBolution is a world gathering of the Lebanese diaspora’s youth. For over a week LEBolutioners connect with their motherland through a “tabbouleh” of cultural, touristic, social and humanitarian activities around the entire country in the company of Lebanese descendants from all over the world!

What do we do in LEBolution?

Exploring Lebanon is a key aspect of LEBolution, so with strong support from Lebanese Ministries and Municipalities as well as public and private collaborators, LEBolutioners have travelled all around Lebanon. Together we have visited the must-see locations (the ruins of Baalbek, millenary Byblos, beautiful Beiteddine, Jeita Grotto, the iconic Cedar Reserves, Raouche, Harissa, Downtown Beirut, Saida, Tyre, …), and have also done some local tourism (the beautiful traditional village of Douma, pottery workshops in Rashaya El Foukhar, moonlit walks in Dhour Shweir, festival in Tartij and Faqra, …).

As a cultural “current events” aspect of the program, we have engaged in discussions on the state of the country with government, political and religious authorities, visited the Lebanese Parliament, the Grand Serail and the Central Bank, and learned about and participated in activities with the Lebanese Armed Forces. We also participated in international symposia at LAU with renowned panelists, and held our own WLCU Youth Congresses during every edition.

Of course, we take the opportunity to have fun and also give back to our motherland. We have traditionally held blood donation campaigns, a symbolic Day of Peace and integration activities with children of the martyrs of the Lebanese Army. All this mixed with dabkeh workshops, beach parties, delicious Lebanese meals, a cultural exchange closing dinner, and amazing new friendships to close off a unique experience visiting home!

Here’s what our participants shared about their experiences in the program!
