The return of state authority to Beirut Airport must be complemented by the restoration of state sovereignty over the airport road.
The Lebanese Cultural Union in the World, deeply shocked by the chaos and assaults occurring on the road to Beirut International Airport—attacks on the Lebanese Army, the Lebanese security forces, as well as innocent citizens and travelers— and in light of the negative repercussions on expatriates, who have felt optimism following the election of His Excellency President General Joseph Aoun, the selection of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and the formation of the government, and as they began to reconsider and adjust their plans for visiting Lebanon in a return that we were, and still are, hopeful about, wishes to announce the following:
– We support all measures taken by the Lebanese government regarding the suspicious Iranian flights, especially from an airline under various international sanctions. Liberating the airport from Iran’s grip and its Lebanese arm is a crucial step toward restoring confidence in the sovereignty of the state over its facilities, both from the Lebanese people and the international community.
– While Lebanon, with its president and government, is working to complete the Israeli withdrawal from the south and preparing for state-led reconstruction of the devastation caused by this Iranian arm—destruction, killings, and displacement—we see in the deliberate chaos on the airport road, from protesters carrying Iranian flags, burning the Lebanese flag on billboards, and the display of Iranian and party leaders’ images planted along the road to our international airport to humiliate the state, Lebanese and international travelers, and the blatant assault on international peacekeeping forces, an attempt to regain the lost role in smuggling and money laundering. The government has committed to reconstruction, and reconstruction must only be done by the state, solely by the state, in conjunction with the implementation of international resolutions.
– Despite our support for the opening and upgrading of the airports in Hamat, Riak, and Hamat for regional tourism and development purposes, Beirut International Airport remains Lebanon’s primary and largest gateway to and from the world, and the country’s face as a sovereign state. Its road must be liberated, and we consider the safety of travelers and passers-by on the airport road a red line; we cannot accept making them hostages for political demands.
– Those who exploit their wounded environment to regain lost roles must be punished. There will be no place for strife in Lebanon because its people are aware of the conspiracy and will not fall into it.
We must say: Enough with exploiting sectarian instincts. The devastating war has revealed the truths, and the game of cunning will not stop the journey of peace and reconstruction, nor the rise of the new Lebanon. We hope that the ministerial statement will be a copy of the oath speech to put an end to reckless adventures, which have brought nothing but calamities to Lebanon and the Lebanese.

عودة سلطة الدولة إلى مطار بيروت يجب أن تُستكمل باستعادة سيادة الدولة على طريق المطار

إنَّ الجامعة اللبنانية الثقافية في العالم، وقد هالها ما يحصل على طريق مطار بيروت الدولي من فوضى واعتداءات على الجيش اللبناني والقوى الأمنية اللبنانية، وعلى المواطنين الآمنين والمسافرين، وانطلاقاً من الانعكاسات السلبية على المغتربين، الذين تلمسوا الإيجابية بعد انتخاب فخامة الرئيس العماد جوزاف عون، واختيار دولة الرئيس نواف سلام وتشكيل الحكومة، وقد بدأوا يتمهلون ويراجعون استعداداتهم لزيارة لبنان في عودةٍ كنا، ولمّا نزلْ نتأملها واعدة، يهمها أن تعلن ما يلي:
– نحن نؤيد كل التدابير التي اتخذتها الحكومة اللبنانية والمتعلقة بالرحلات الإيرانية المشبوهة، خاصةً من شركة طيران هي تحت عقوبات دولية مختلفة. إنَّ تحرير المطار من قبضة إيران وذراعها اللبناني خطوة أساسية لاستعادة الثقة بدولة سيدة على مرافقها من قبل اللبنانيين والعالم.
– في وقت يعمل فيه لبنان، رئيساً وحكومةً، على استكمال الانسحاب الإسرائيلي من الجنوب، والتحضير لإعادة الإعمار من قبل الدولة لما سببه هذا الذراع الإيراني من دمار وقتل وتهجير، نرى في الفوضى المقصودة على طريق المطار، ومن قبل المتظاهرين الحاملين للعلم الإيراني، والذين أحرقوا العلم اللبناني على المنصات الإعلانية، وفي ظل صور القادة الإيرانيين والحزبيين المزروعة على طريق مطارنا الدولي لإذلال الدولة والمسافرين اللبنانيين والدوليين والعرب، والاعتداء السافر على قوات الطوارئ الدولية، نرى في كل ذلك محاولة لاستعادة الدور المفقود في التهريب وتبييض الأموال. لقد التزمت الحكومة بالإعمار، والإعمار يجب أن لا يتم إلا من قبل الدولة، وحدها الدولة، بالتزامن مع تطبيق القرارات الدولية.
– بالرغم من تأييدنا لفتح وتأهيل مطارات حالات ورياق وحامات لأسباب سياحية وتنموية مناطقية، يبقى مطار بيروت الدولي بوابة لبنان الأساسية والكبرى من وإلى العالم، وواجهة الوطن كدولة سيدة، ويجب أن تُحرَّر طريقه، ونحن نعتبر أنَّ سلامة المسافرين والعابرين على طريق المطار هي خط أحمر، ولا يمكن أن نقبل بجعلهم رهائن من أجل مطالب سياسية.
– إنَّ من يستغل بيئته المجروحة لاستعادة الأدوار المفقودة يجب أن يُعاقب، ولن يكون للفتنة مكان في لبنان لأنَّ أهله واعون للمؤامرة ولن ينجروا إليها.
يبقى أن نقول: كفى لعِباً على الغرائز المذهبية، فإنَّ الحرب المدمرة كشفت الحقائق، ولعبة التذاكي لن توقف مسيرة السلام والإعمار، ونهضة لبنان الجديد، ونرجو أن يأتي البيان الوزاري نسخةً عن خطاب القسَم لوضع حَدٍّ للمغامرات المتهورة التي ما جرت على لبنان واللبنانيين إلا الويلات.
