At this critical moment in the history of our homeland, Lebanon—where freedom of expression and the dignity of journalists are facing attempts at intimidation and suppression—we, the President and members of the World Lebanese Cultural Union, declare our full solidarity with the prominent journalist Walid Abboud, who has always been a free, courageous voice committed to conveying the truth and defending the nation’s higher interests.
What journalist Abboud is being subjected to today is not merely a personal attack—it is an assault on the core values upon which Lebanon was built: public freedoms, freedom of the press, diversity, and respect for human rights.
We firmly reject any attempt to silence voices or subjugate free media. We believe such practices tarnish Lebanon’s image in the eyes of the world and stand in stark contradiction to the ongoing struggle of both residents and expatriates for the establishment of a true state governed by the rule of law, not by political or media intimidation.
From our position as a global organization representing the Lebanese diaspora across five continents, we affirm that defending a free press is part and parcel of defending Lebanon’s message and the dream of Lebanon that still lives in the hearts of millions of its sons and daughters abroad.
We call upon all vital forces in Lebanese society, as well as all professional, human rights, and media organizations, to stand in broad solidarity with journalist Walid Abboud and with all honorable journalists—in defense of freedom of speech, the public’s right to the truth, and Lebanon’s dignity before itself and the world.

بيان تضامن صادر عن الرئيس العالمي وأعضاء الجامعة اللبنانية الثقافية في العالم
دفاعًا عن حرية الإعلام وكرامة الإعلاميين
في هذه اللحظة الدقيقة من تاريخ وطننا لبنان، حيث تتعرض حرية التعبير وكرامة الإعلاميين لمحاولات الترهيب والإخضاع، يهمنا نحن، رئيس وأعضاء الجامعة اللبنانية الثقافية في العالم، أن نعلن تضامننا الكامل مع الإعلامي الكبير وليد عبود، الذي لطالما شكّل صوتًا حرًا، شجاعًا، ملتزمًا بنقل الحقيقة والدفاع عن المصلحة الوطنية العليا.
إن ما يتعرض له الإعلامي عبود اليوم لا يمسّ شخصه فقط، بل هو اعتداء على القيم الجوهرية التي بُني عليها لبنان: الحريات العامة، حرية الصحافة، التنوع، واحترام حقوق الإنسان.
نرفض بشكل قاطع أي محاولة لتكميم الأفواه أو إخضاع الإعلام الحر، ونعتبر أن هذه الممارسات تُسيء إلى صورة لبنان أمام العالم، وتتناقض مع نضال اللبنانيين المقيمين والمغتربين من أجل قيام دولة حقيقية يحكمها القانون، لا منطق الترهيب السياسي أو الإعلامي.
من موقعنا كهيئة عالمية تمثل الانتشار اللبناني في القارات الخمس، نرى أن الدفاع عن الإعلام الحر هو دفاع عن لبنان الرسالة، عن لبنان الحلم الذي ما زال يعيش في قلوب الملايين من أبنائه المنتشرين.
ندعو كل القوى الحية في المجتمع اللبناني، وكل الهيئات النقابية والحقوقية والإعلامية، إلى أوسع تضامن مع الإعلامي وليد عبود ومع جميع الإعلاميين الشرفاء، دفاعًا عن حرية الكلمة، وحق المواطن في معرفة الحقيقة، وكرامة لبنان أمام نفسه وأمام العالم.
