Statement of WLCU condemning the attacks on the UNIFIL personnel in Southern Lebanon

WLCU strongly condemns the recent attacks targeting members of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), which occurred in several villages in southern Lebanon. These acts, which do not reflect the values or ethics of the authentic and honorable people of the South, constitute a blatant violation of international law and of the agreement governing the presence of international forces. They also endanger a noble mission aimed at maintaining peace and stability in a troubled region.
WLCU reaffirms its full support for the presence of UNIFIL forces in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 1701. It calls on the Lebanese authorities to take all necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents, to ensure the safety of international mission personnel, and to facilitate the fulfillment of their duties in a way that serves Lebanon’s interests and sovereignty.
WLCU further reiterates its commitment to the role of the international community in supporting Lebanon, and stresses the importance of maintaining a respectful and cooperative relationship between citizens and international forces—free from tensions and political exploitation—in order to help safeguard stability in southern Lebanon.
بيان صادر عن الرئيس العالمي للجامعة اللبنانية الثقافية في العالم، روجيه هاني، استنكارا للاعتداءات التي طالت عناصر اليونيفيل في جنوب لبنان

تعرب الجامعة اللبنانية الثقافية في العالم عن بالغ استنكارها للاعتداءات التي طالت عناصر قوات حفظ السلام الدولية العاملة في جنوب لبنان (اليونيفيل)، والتي وقعت مؤخراً في بعض القرى الجنوبية. إنّ هذه التصرفات، التي لا تمثّل أخلاق ولا قيم أهالي الجنوب الأصيلين، تشكّل انتهاكاً فاضحاً للقانون الدولي ولاتفاقية تواجد القوات الدولية، وتعرّض للخطر مهمة نبيلة تهدف إلى حفظ الأمن والاستقرار في منطقة مضطربة.
إنّ الجامعة، إذ تؤكد دعمها الكامل لوجود قوات اليونيفيل وفقاً لقرارات مجلس الأمن الدولي، لا سيما القرار 1701، تدعو السلطات اللبنانية إلى اتخاذ كل الإجراءات الكفيلة بمنع تكرار مثل هذه الحوادث، وضمان سلامة عناصر البعثة الدولية وتسهيل أداء مهامهم، بما يخدم مصلحة لبنان وسيادته
وتؤكد الجامعة من جديد على تمسّكها بدور المجتمع الدولي في دعم لبنان، وعلى ضرورة الحفاظ على علاقة احترام وتعاون بين المواطنين والقوات الدولية، بعيداً عن التشنجات والمزايدات، وبما يساهم في حماية الاستقرار في الجنوب اللبناني.
